Found on the outskirts of Paris by a francophile in Berkeley, this was originally used as a bread basket, with fresh bread wrapped in a kitchen cloth and placed inside it for protection. Though delicate in appearance, It's quite sturdy. Could be used for bread but also fruit, balls of yarn, your large shell collection from Antibes or someone's garage sale. Sky's the limit.

Measuring 14" long X 6" wide X 4" high the wire has developed a rich dark patina over the years.

Curious fact: Due to the importance of bread in French culture to this day the police can get involved if a french baker puts sugar in their bread, a common American practice forbidden in all bread sold in France.
